Atiqa Hussain brings fresh ideas and insights into every personal injury and workers’ compensation case she is involved with at Haxel Law in Central Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry before shifting her focus toward a legal career. After finishing a Law Degree in India, she took her higher education another step and finished her Master of Laws (LLM) at the University of Illinois, Champaign. She is in the process of pursuing her law licensure in the U.S.

When Atiqa started her legal career, she was an administrative assistant at a law firm. The attorneys there acted as mentors in a way and encouraged her to pursue a law degree to become a lawyer herself. After completing her law degree in India, she worked as an in-house counsel. Ever since she officially began working, Atiqa has been excited to have opportunities to tackle real-world problems for people in need, as well as a chance to use her communication and negotiation skills tangibly at work.

Now that she is a member of Haxel Law, Atiqa looks forward to learning more skills and “tricks of the trade” from founding attorney Martin Haxel. She will primarily work on personal injury and workers’ compensation cases, so she works directly with people who have been injured and need legal support more than ever before.

Atiqa considers herself fairly tech-savvy and enjoys using technology to streamline and enhance her work. As someone who is very detail-oriented and genuinely enjoys saving time for clients, her use and understanding of office technology are appreciated by her clients and peers alike.

Outside of the Office

In her free time, Atiqa likes to crochet, read, and hike. She recently moved to Springfield, so she also likes to explore local cafes to familiarize herself more with her community. When she lived in India, she loved to volunteer with animal welfare nonprofits, so she is currently looking for similar volunteer opportunities in Illinois.
