Laurie Haxel
Project & Quality DirectorWith a strong foundation in pharmaceutical and biologic quality systems, Laurie Haxel brings a unique perspective to her role as Project and Quality Manager at Haxel Law. She ensures the firm’s operations reflect the same level of precision, compliance, and integrity expected in highly regulated industries. Before joining the legal world, she spent most of her career in quality assurance and compliance, retiring as a National Expert Investigator for Biologics at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In that role, she audited firms across the U.S. and internationally to ensure compliance with federal regulations governing drug and biologic manufacturing.
When Marty Haxel opened Haxel Law, Laurie saw an opportunity to build something new, anchored in quality. While her move into the legal field was unplanned, she quickly discovered a passion for helping clients and improving firm processes. She thrives on implementing systems and software that boost efficiency and client satisfaction. One of the most rewarding parts of her work is seeing the emotional relief on clients' faces when they receive their settlement checks—a true reminder of why the work matters.
Outside of the office
Laurie is deeply committed to community development. She and Marty are proud supporters of downtown revitalization in Springfield, Illinois, where they’ve lived for over 40 years and raised their family. She enjoys boating in the summer, walking their 95-pound Bernedoodle, Murf, and spending time with their three adult children, who now live in New York City, St. Paul, and Chicago.
An RN and biology graduate, Laurie Haxel continues to consult with pharmaceutical and biologic firms around the world, frequently traveling for work. When she’s not traveling, she loves catching up on The Daily podcast (produced by the New York Times, where her son is an editor).
